JCS Exam – Oral

I just have my Jap JCS Intermediate (B class) Oral test on Sunday.

There was 5 topics for Oral:

music, travelling, movie, food and Japanese Language

Did last min preparation for Oral.. music is my least fav and weakest topic.. and guess what .. yes I got that music topic…. >.<

Qs are like “Do you like music?”, “Have you been to Karaoke?”, “Do you prefer singing or listening in Karaoke?”, “Can you sing Japanese songs?”, “Can you (also) sing Mandarin songs?”, “In your next holiday, what do you intend to do?”….

I have prepared to answer extra for some qs like “Have you been to Japan?” Normal short answer will be “No, I have not been to Japan.” I was thinking of adding, “But I intend to go Japan next year or next time” or qs like “If with dictionary, will you be able to read the Japanese Newspaper?”. Short answer will be “No, even with dictionary, I will not be able to read Japanese Newspaper.” But I prepared to add on more … like “Because there are many difficult letters, reading it will not be easy.” .. etc etc

Sometimes, in Oral, it is good to be creative and add-in more answers. But most of the time, if you are not that fluent in answering, it is better to keep answers short and sweet. Otherwise the more you speak, the more mistakes you make… Thus the more marks being deducted from you .. and resulted in lesser marks… It is a vicious cycle… =)

So in music topic, I didn’t prepare any fancy extra answers. So I just try to curb whatever nervousness and tried to answer as simple as possible..

And my gut feel that I should be able to score full marks 50/50 for my Oral..

Ok for conservative score, my guess is 45/50 (just in case, teachers feel that my answers are too short =p)

I didn’t really study for this test, so I guess I will just try my best not to score too badly.. Last year I score 96/100 …. but I think if I can get above 80 marks for Grammar this year, then considered good (considering that I didn’t really study as hard as last year…)
